Yellow-breasted chat, Red-listed, BreederVaseux Lake Birding Tour

Best months for this experience: April and May, September and October

Just over an hour south of Kelowna, we visit the region with the highest species diversity in Canada – Vaseux-Bighorn Area.  The Vaseux bird checklist has an astounding 205 bird species.  We birdwatch from the Vaseux Lake boardwalk and viewing tower.  So don’t forget your binoculars and viewing scope.

Red-listed bird species include the American white pelican, Lewis’s woodpecker, peregrine falcon, and yellow-breasted chat.  We explore some of the 10 red-listed ecological communities for birds and other flora and fauna.

We then return to Penticton for Lunch at the upscale Vanilla Pod Restaurant with a spectacular view of Okanagan Lake.  A wine tasting follows at the Poplar Grove Winery.  The tour features a surprise stop!
