The Okanagan Desert Tour showcases the unique, rare, and endangered places, plants, and animals of the Osoyoos area. You visit one of the four most endangered ecosystems in Canada, the region with the highest species diversity and some of the last remaining Sage and Antelope ecosystems in Canada.

We search for secretive and fascinating creatures like the Ground Mantis (only praying mantis native to Canada), California Hairstreak, the huge darkling beetle, and northern scorpion.  A special destination is the best place in Canada to see the Sage Thrasher.

At the Nk’ Mip Desert Cultural Centre  we hunt along the interpretive trail to find signs of snakes and often a wild snake.  You could see the Yellow-bellied Racer, Pocket Desert Gopher Snake, or Western Rattlesnake.  An unforgettable experience!

We birdwatch from the Vaseux Lake boardwalk and viewing tower.  So don’t forget your binoculars and viewing scopes.

The Lunch stop is at Greenside Grill (price not included).

On the way magnificent animals such as Mountain Goat and California Bighorn Sheep are regular seasonal sights ,  The Pallid Bat is known in Canada only from the south Okanagan.  Find out its favourite prey item.  You will be surprised.

Botanists will enjoy bright yellow bells and bitterroot in the spring, followed later by evening primroses, blazing-stars, gumweeds, and the delicate mariposa lily.
